Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient healing system established thousands of years ago. Tiny, disposable, sterile needles are inserted into very specific points along the body, promoting blood flow, alleviating pain, and restoring balance. Acupuncture is most notably effective for treating pain, but is also helpful for a wide variety of other conditions. Chinese herbal medicine, sourced from high-quality companies, can be a helpful addition to your treatment.
What Problems Does Acupuncture Treat?
Though acupuncture is most commonly used for pain, it also treats a wide variety of other medical problems. Here is a short list of diseases it can resolve:
- Back and neck pain
- Menstrual pain and PMS syndrome
- Symptoms of menopause
- IBS, GER and other gastrointestinal disorders
- Arthritic problems
- Nausea caused by chemo treatments
Benefits of Acupuncture
Many patients are happy with the results of an acupuncture treatment. They leave the office feeling relieved, relaxed and most importantly with less pain or discomfort. The great thing about acupuncture is that it is a non-invasive way to treat certain medical problems that are otherwise treated with medication or even surgery.
What to Expect
Your initial visit will include a comprehensive assessment of your condition, review of your medical history, and your first treatment. Treatment may include a combination of acupuncture, cupping, deep tissue and Tuina massage, gua sha, Chinese herbal medicine, and nutrition and lifestyle recommendations. Your initial visit will last approximately 60-75 minutes. Follow-up visits are typically 45-60 minutes.
Acupuncture Injection Therapy
Acupuncture Injection Therapy is used for acute and chronic pain management, and may increase the benefits of your acupuncture treatment. In this procedure, sterile solutions such as botanicals, vitamins, or homeopathics are injected into traditional acupuncture points or trigger points to relieve pain and promote lasting effects. Acupuncture Injection Therapy can be included during your acupuncture treatment or may be scheduled separately.
